My LEGO project #5

Today i decided to do some materials and configure some render settings as didn't feel like modeling today. It took some time to get the materials where it is now, but i think its pretty close to the true LEGO colors. So if you think the colors are off, PLEASE tell me.

Here it is, the only thing that are missing is the texture, but i need to figure out how i´ll do that best before i´ll start trying to render anything with those.

I started on the LEGO body piece which is a bit more hard to do then the average LEGO brick, so it have been a few hours making, first the legs and now I'm almost done with the upper body.

So here's the render of what i have done so far on the body, I'm currently working on the arms with is kinda hard to do as they aren't as "brick-like" as the other parts of the body.

Finally finished one of the three bonus pieces which was in the LEGO product 7890, the next two is mainly special bricks so they will take a few hours to create each i think, but until that you can see the render of the first piece just below here.

Here's the assembled part and it's a monitor of some kind, the top "panel" is supposed to show some instruments, but that will be added later when i get the textures all done.

Today i have finished the last piece for the little bonus piece which was in my LEGO product, it's a special piece which were first introduced when they started making Star Wars LEGO, and it's the arm to the droid they made.

Here it is, wasn't so hard to do, looks a lot harder then it really is.

Well that's all for now, i´ll post a render of the bonus piece assembled in a few minutes.

My LEGO project #1

So here's the first post, I got started on the first LEGO bricks which is used for a little extra piece, but more about that later.

So here's two renders of my current progress, i made 3 bricks so far, a 2x1 brick, 2x1 brick without studs and I also made a 2x1 brick with a handle thingi. They are both simple light clay renders with a white wire frame.

The two first bricks i made and are properly the easiest to make, as you can see there are some strings on the studded brick, those are there because of the hole which are made for saving material i think, so it's intentional.

The third brick is done and its basically like the 2x1 brick just with a little handle tingi.

My LEGO project Intro

So today i went to the local toy store and brought myself a piece of LEGO, which by the way is the most awesome type of toy and have entertained me for hundred of hours when i was a kid, hehe.

Well back to the story, so I brought this LEGO product as it I wanted to create some more advanced modeling then just a few standard models in 3D Studio Max.

As I started modeling i thought it would be a good idea to do regulary renders of how far i got to track my progress and to have some sort of timeline, and then it hit me that I also should blog about it!

So here it starts, I´ll do a post on this blog as soon as i got some progress and renders to show, hope to do it atleast daily if i get the time to it.

"How can it take so long to do a single LEGO product?" you may ask, and the answar is that I'm going into details with this one, each LEGO brick is modelled and messuared down to the smalles edge and it takes a long time and it's not as speeding contest either so I'm not rushing, wanna do it proberly.

If you want to know what piece I'm making, then just go to google and write "LEGO 7890" and choose image search and you'll find a picture or two of it, but if you prefer to just follow this and get supprised then you can of cause also just follow my posts and eventually see what I'm building.
